A meme? Perhaps, but I can’t help but copy my Dear American Friend:
(And he did say “assuming we’re talking about firsts with our own money”, which means I can discount The Best of Boney M: the first cassette my dad found in his wardrobe when my parents realised they had to give me something to listen to on the Walkman I got for my seventh birthday. I listened to it obsessively for about six months.)
- Cassette: Ocean Colour Scene - Moseley Shoals and Alisha’s Attic - Alisha Rules the World (both bought with my first pay).
- CD: There were five I think, via my dad’s Britannia Music Club membership, but I can’t remember what they were beyond The Holy Bible and Celebrity Skin.
- Vinyl: The Mountain Goats - Heretic Pride
